A plea bargain deal could get taken off the table for an East Hampton woman who killed a priest while driving drunk.
Suffolk County Judge Robert Doyle revoked bail for Karen Fisher on the day of her sentencing. Fisher pleaded guilty to manslaughter for running over Monsignor William Costello with her car as he was walking in East Hampton in July 2006. Fisher's deal called for three and a half to 10 years in prison. In the terms of her probation, Fisher was not allowed to drink alcohol. As Doyle revoked bail to review a pre-sentence probation report, speculation has arisen Fisher could have violated her probation.
Anti-drunk driving activist Dina Cohen says she's hopeful Fisher's light sentence will be increased. A Nassau man, who did not have a prior criminal record, was given 18 years to life Wednesday for a DWI crash that killed two people. Fisher, who has a prior DWI conviction, will be sentenced March 22.
