Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney has announced a plan to strengthen the penalties for illegal dumping in the county.
Tierney says the maximum fine for dumping will rise to $25,000 and the reward for information leading to an arrest will increase to 33% of fines.
The DA’s office will also distribute over $10,000 of surveillance equipment to parks to help combat illegal dumping.
