A Holtsville woman was indicted Tuesday for allegedly robbing a bank and then crashing into a police car while trying to get away, according Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney.
Prosecutors say 42-year-old Nina Cahill stole $500 from the Chase Bank on Middle Country Road on Sept. 6.
She is accused of using a car she stole from the Stony Brook University Hospital parking lot to lead police on two high-speed chases the following day. The first chase had to be called off for safety reasons.
Cahill was eventually caught after driving the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway and smashing head-on into a highway patrol car near Exit 58, Tierney says.
