Suffolk District Attorney Tim Sini is calling for a special grand jury to investigate the death of 8-year-old Thomas Valva, who died of hypothermia.
Michael Valva and his fiancée Angela Pollina are both charged with second-degree murder for allegedly forcing Michael's 8-year-old son Thomas to sleep in the garage of their home in January.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone issued a statement saying, "I recently unveiled the CPS Transformation Act to help reform a broken system that failed to protect Thomas Valva. I applaud District Attorney Tim Sini for convening a special grand jury and I am confident this action will be a catalyst to implement additional, necessary reforms."
