A once-popular Suffolk restaurant has become an eyesore in its Lake Ronkonkoma community.

The Bavarian Inn has been vacant for six years. It's mired in a tax dispute with Suffolk County and has become a magnet for graffiti and troublemakers.

The county, which now owns the waterfront property, is trying to figure out what to do next. County Legislator John Kennedy envisions a park, and neighbors tell News 12 they believe it would be a worthwhile investment.

But some believe the property should be sold to a developer to keep it from being a burden on the county.

The Nesconset-Sachem Civic Association plans to have a meeting about the property on Thursday.
