Suffolk County reports first case of West Nile virus this season​

County Health Commissioner, Dr. Gregson Pigott, says the individual, who is in their 50's, remains in the hospital Friday after being admitted late August with symptoms consistent of West Nile.

Suffolk County reported its first case of the West Nile virus this season on Friday.
County Health Commissioner, Dr. Gregson Pigott, says the individual, who is in their 50's, remains in the hospital Friday after being admitted late August with symptoms consistent of West Nile.
People with the disease usually have mild symptoms, like fever and body aches. But severe symptoms could arise such as convulsions, vision loss and paralysis.
