Suffolk County Police Department's 911 emergency system working again following issues
The Suffolk County Police Department says its 911 emergency system is back up and running following some problems for much of Monday.
Suffolk police say with the exception of the "Text to 911" program, the 911 system is now working normally.
County police had a backup system that made it possible for the calls to still be answered by the 911 operator, but the local police departments did not have the same capability until the system was back online.
Riverhead Town Police Department says it experienced issues with its phone system, including 911 and the direct police department lines.
