The Suffolk County police officer who died in a car crash on the LIE this week was laid to rest Friday.
More than 200 mourners turned out to say goodbye to Officer Robert Bowen, who was also a Marine veteran of the Iraq war. The 34-year-old from Ronkonkoma died early Monday morning when he lost control of his car on the LIE.
?Two tours in Iraq and the police department and all the benefits he participated in?.He was an angel without wings,? says Bowen?s father-in-law Marcial Gonzalez.
His fellow Marines and police officers say they?ll remember Bowen as a good cop, a good Marine and a good family man. Bowen was laid to rest at Calverton National Cemetery. He leaves behind wife Vanessa and 18-month-old daughter Emily.
