The study found a link between the presence of amyloid in the brain and the duration of exposure to chemicals at the World Trade Center site.
Doctors say amyloid can form abnormal deposits, associated with diseases, including Alzheimer’s.
John Feal, a 9/11 first responder advocate, said “we’re not shocked” by the study.
He said cognitive issues need to be taken seriously.
