A new study states that children are no safer in SUVs than in a regular passenger car.

Researchers say SUV's are twice as likely to roll over in an accident than cars. And they say that nullifies the safety advantages provided by the size and weight of sport utility vehicles. The study looked at crashes involving nearly 4,000 kids and found that SUVs were twice as likely to rollover and that children involved in rollover crashes were nearly three times as likely to be injured.

Many Long Island residents say they feel safer in SUVs than in a smaller vehicle. A child safety expert says the most important aspect of children?s safety in any vehicle is that they are properly restrained.
