Children in Elmont are spreading Valentine's Day cheer to veterans.
Sixth-graders and student council members at Stewart Manor School created special cards for veterans in nursing homes and hospitals across Long Island.
The students then presented local veterans with paper hearts that include messages of hope and inspiration.
Some veterans showed up Thursday to receive their cards, while others at nursing homes and hospitals will have them delivered.
