Students got a hands-on science lesson today on the effect Sandy had on Carmans River.

A group of 400 Patchogue-Medford and William Floyd High School students, along with their educators, took part in the 2nd annual Day in the Life of the Carmans River.

Students collected scientific information on the river's ecosystem and will compile the information learned from today's tests.
