A young woman from Commack was among three students killed in an off-campus house fire near Marist College.
Kerry Fitzsimons, 21, was studying biomedical science at the school. She had graduated from Commack High School back in 2008. Teachers there remember her as an exceptional student who loved biology, field hockey and music.
Fitzsimons died in the fire early Saturday morning along with Eva Block and Kevin Johnson, of Connecticut.
Officials say a total of seven people were in the house at the time of the fire.
According to witnesses, one woman survived after being thrown from a window by her boyfriend.
Police say they're still trying to determine the cause of the fire but say that so far, it does not appear suspicious.
