Severe storms tore across Long Island late this afternoon, sparking tornado warnings and reports of damage in several areas.

A sudden hail storm Saturday afternoon has left widespread damage across Suffolk County.
Strong winds destroyed a Chipotle and damaged several other businesses at a strip mall on Montauk Highway in Shirley.
Officials say people were inside the restaurant, but no one was hurt.

A Shirley woman says several trees on her property were uprooted in seconds, a car was damaged and her new trampoline was airlifted into a nearby tree.
In Oakdale, 10 people were evacuated from an apartment building after an old tree crashed into it. The tree caused a gas leak that was capped - but officials say the building will be uninhabitable for the near future.
