A Valley Stream woman says she is being harassed by a neighbor following a dispute over an unkempt yard.

Jennifer McLeggan, a mother and registered nurse, says she's afraid for her life and fears for the safety of her young daughter.

McLeggan says she put up a sign on the front door of her Sapir Street home a few days ago, after she says the harassment from her neighbor got out of control.

The sign has graphic details of incidents she says have happened, like human feces being thrown on her property, dead squirrels being buried and a blow torch being taken to her home in the middle of the night.

McLeggan shared videos with News 12 Long Island in which she says one shows her neighbor walking around with what appears to be a gun, leaning over the fence and spitting on her yard.

She says another video shows a person in what she says is a black face mask at night walking in front of her home.

The videos and the sign have gone viral, gaining attention on social media, from neighbors and community groups.

McLeggan says she is not looking for any problems. She says she just wants for her and her child to be safe.

"I just want peace here, I just want peace here. I just want to live peacefully here. I don't want nobody to throw feces in front of my house, I don't want nobody to throw dead squirrels at my house, I don't want nobody to be under my window talking about they can get me eliminated," McLeggan says.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran released a statement, saying, "Nassau County will not tolerate any resident being harassed or intimidated because of who they are or what they look like. We take these allegations seriously, and Nassau County PD is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter."

News 12 Long Island also knocked on the neighbor's door to get his side, but he did not answer.

McLeggan says a community group is planning a protest march and rally from the Valley Stream train station to her home on Thursday.

Nassau police Det. Lt. Richard Lebrun added, "What we can say at this point that this is an active criminal investigation and that the Fifth Squad is assigned."
