An East Meadow man accused of going on a crime spree this week faced a judge Saturday.
Genri Palacios Acosta, 35, allegedly shoplifted from a Target in Westbury on Thursday. After being chased out by security, he stole an Uber driver's car, allegedly claiming to have a gun.
Police were able to catch up with him quickly because he was on probation and was wearing an ankle monitor.
Palacios Acosta was arrested last Saturday while sitting in a car holding what police say was a glass tube containing crack cocaine. When police tried to approach him, he allegedly sped off, struck a police car and injured an officer.
After the 35-year-old was arrested he was released from jail under the state's new bail reform law. Saturday, Palacios Acosta was charged with a crime that qualifies for bail, the robbery charge for allegedly stealing the Uber driver's car, so the judge ordered him to be held on $200,000 bond.
He also faced charges of petit larceny and drug possession.
Palacios Acosta is due back in court Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Palacios Acosta has criminal history that includes 12 convictions – three of them for felonies and nine for misdemeanor offenses.
