Two teachers were fired and a third is on paid leave after pictures of nooses were posted in a Roosevelt classroom.
The Roosevelt School Board met Tuesday night to take action against the three teachers.
As News 12 has reported, last month a picture of the nooses was displayed on a teacher's desk at Roosevelt Middle School.
Right after the incident, the three middle school teachers were placed on paid administrative leave.
However, the Roosevelt school board voted to terminate two teachers and suspend the tenured teacher with pay pending a hearing by a state arbitrator.
Pastor Arthur Mackey from the Mount Sinai Baptist Church is satisfied with the decision.
"The school board's decision is helping us move forward in the right direction. Of course, the teacher that has tenure has to go through a hearing, but we'll pay close attention to that," said Pastor Mackey.
It's not known when the fate of the suspended teacher will be decided.
School officials say they have no comment since it's a personnel matter.
