School boards holds meeting on 'back to school necklaces' noose photo

Parents and community members packed a special meeting of the Roosevelt School Board Wednesday night to express their anger and concern over a picture of two nooses that were displayed as part of a collage in a middle school classroom.
Many called for the dismissal of those responsible for displaying the noose images, which were accompanied by text saying "back to school necklaces."
Three teachers involved in the collage have been placed on paid administrative leave.
Some students defended the accused teachers. Brianna Diaz called one of them "an amazing teacher."
District Superintendent Marnie Hazelton says she was disheartened when she learned about the incident last week.
Hazelton says the district is investigating the allegations. She says she and the school board will make a final decision about the teachers' fate based on the evidence gathered by school attorneys.
