A North Middle School teacher in Brentwood is accused of having a sexual relationship with a former student.

Police say 54-year-old Thomas Barton is charged with rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child. They say the former student is now 16 years old.

Barton was arrested around 4:45 p.m. Friday at his home on Lincoln Road in Medford.
