Police say two people were killed in a fiery crash Saturday morning.
The crash happened at around 4:15 a.m. near the corner of Bayview Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
Police say the garbage truck, owned by D Daniels Sanitation, was driving westbound on Bayview Avenue and headed back to its yard when it collided with a BMW driving southbound on Sheridan Boulevard.
The crash also caused two telephone poles to crack in half, leaving hundreds of residents temporarily without power.
Both victims were inside the BMW. They have not been identified.
The driver of the garbage truck was hospitalized to be treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
