Monday Weather Timeline
Blizzard conditions through Monday morning
A blizzard warning for Long Island is in effect from now through 6 p.m. Monday.
Major travel delays expected, power outages and coastal flooding
Expect up to 2 feet of snow, with locally higher amounts and even higher snow drifts due to the wind that is still expected on Long Island as heavy bands of snow will continue to dump snow through Monday morning. Snowfall rates will range from 1 to 4 inches per hour.
Wind-driven snow will bring damage to trees and powerlines overnight into Monday morning. Winds will gust 35 to 55 mph during this time with a few gusts up to 70 mph over the East End.
Major travel delays can linger into Tuesday. High snow amounts and blowing and drifting snow could be as high as 5 feet, and it will take time to remove all of the snow to make the roads safe and to restore any power outages.
Coastal flooding is an issue with this storm during the high tide cycles between now and 6 a.m. Monday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. One to 3 feet of inundation is possible. Cars should already be moved in these areas.
