News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says some heavy showers will linger overnight with winds occasionally gusting near 50 mph.
STORM TIMELINE:
  • 2 a.m. to daybreak rain moves out and winds diminish with a northeast breeze 10 to 15 mph. Flooding concerns also diminish with a wind shift.
  • As of 4 p.m. with the incoming tide on the South Shore we have a few spots approaching minor flooding in Nassau County. The best chance of flooding will be from Island Park to Freeport and Massapequa through this evening. At this time it does not look like widespread moderate flooding will be a threat
OVERNIGHT: Cloudy and windy early with periods of rain. Showers taper off by morning with diminishing winds. Lows near 43. East wind 20 to 40 gusting to 50, diminishing 10 to 20 mph by daybreak. Sunrise: 6:30
THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy and breezy with the chance of a few rain showers. Feeling chilly with highs near 49. Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph. Sunset: 7:21. Mostly cloudy at night with lows near 35. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny with the chance of a passing shower. Highs near 50. Lows near 38.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and cool. Highs near 50. Lows near 33.
SUNDAY: Nice with sun and clouds. Highs near 55. Lows near 38.
MONDAY: Mostly sunny and warmer. Highs near 59. Lows near 43
