It happened around 6 p.m. Monday. "It's very surreal to see it flipped over," said Will Stamoulis from New Canaan. The owner of the gas station says it just so happened he ran out of gas, so no one was at the pumps at the time. No one was injured. "Once I noticed it. It shocked me. It was very weird," said Stamoulis. The damage appears to be storm related. The base of the pillars that held up the canopy look rusted. "I saw this first on News 12. I came back from a trip and the storm was just crazy," said State Sen. Bob Duff. Duff says it's incredible the way the canopy fell that it missed the power lines and the gas pumps. "It didn't fall on the gas pumps. It looks like hopefully the gas station can get repaired at some point," said Duff. There's no timetable on when the station will be repaired.
