Southside Hospital saw several Leap Year deliveries Friday from parents who said they?re excited for their children to have such unique birthdays.
Matthew and Patricia Emerick, of North Babylon, said they knew their son Owen Matthew could easily be a Leap Year baby. The baby boy arrived four days shy of his due date. Patricia said she was just hoping to make it through last weekend, when her doctors were out of town.
Roxana Romero, of Brentwood, gave birth to a baby girl Friday. She said she plans to celebrate her daughter?s birthday March 1, while the Emericks will opt for Feb. 28.
Nurses at Southside gave the babies and parents Leap Frog learning toys in honor of the special day and invited them back to the hospital next Leap Year for a party.
