Stop & Shop donated $10,250 to Island Harvest as part of its Community Assist program with the New York Islanders. The donation will help with food insecurity on Long Island.
The donation is part of a pledge made by the supermarket to donate to the nonprofit for every home game assist the Islanders made last season – the total is 205.
"Stop & Shop has contributed over $10,000 to Island Harvest today and through this support we're going to be able to supplement and support over $20,000 meals right here on Long Island,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, Island Harvest’s president and CEO.
Islanders’ legend Butch Goring and mascot Sparky were also on hand to help sort food at Island Harvest.
