Students at Stony Brook University held a safety awareness rally Thursday following claims from a female student that she was assaulted twice by the same person.
Organizers say they don?t feel safe on campus anymore and the administration is not doing enough to protect students. Those in attendance signed a petition against administrative silence, calling for school officials to release a statement after an incident to inform the public. Some students say they want to increase the number of security guards patrolling the campus.
School officials say student safety is their top priority and that police immediately began investigating the assault allegations. Officials add this is the only incident that has been reported this year.
