Stony Brook University today announced the largest private donation in the State University of New York's history.
Jim and Marilyn Simons and the Simons Foundation are giving Stony Brook a $150-million grant, which will be used to fund medical research, endow professors and recruit top undergraduate and graduate students.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) also announced the school will get $35-million in grants from the state.
