A Dix Hills man faces charges after allegedly beating his dog with a baseball bat.
Police say Steven Errante struck the dog, causing fractures to its head and face and breaking one of its legs.
A man discovered the dog earlier this week on Deer Park Avenue, according to officials.
The lab mix suffered such serious injuries that she had to be euthanized.
Errante was arraigned in court today. According to Newsday, a prosecutor said that 26-year-old Errante had previously assaulted his father and was charged in that case.
