State police take over investigation into New Canaan woman's death
State police said the decision to take over the investigation was made at the request of State's Attorney's Office. The medical examiner says Preyer's cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation.

Connecticut State Police have taken over the investigation of a death in New Canaan.
Essence Preyer died on Sept. 13.
On that day, New Canaan authorities and state police responded to an apartment complex on Lakeside Avenue.
State police said the decision to take over the investigation was made at the request of State's Attorney's Office.
The medical examiner says Preyer's cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation.
Preyer worked at the New Canaan Playhouse and had two children.
