State DEC issues air quality health advisory for Wednesday

The DEC says the pollutant of concern is ozone.

The New York state Department of Environment Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for Wednesday across Long Island.
Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott advises all residents, especially young children, seniors and those with underlying conditions.
Ozone levels are often elevated after 12 p.m. through the early evening on hot and sunny days.
Anyone experiencing eye, nose and throat irritation, shortness of breath or chest pain should contact their medical provider.
The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
