Parents of the Sachem Central School District are being warned about a man in a cowboy hat approaching students at their bus stop in Holtsville.
The district sent a letter notifying parents that a "strange man" was watching children from across the street and then walked over to talk to the children.
The parents of the children approached then notified Sachem East School.
The school says police and all bus drivers have been made away of the situation.
Laurie Vega, a bus driver in a different district, lives near where the man approached students. She says parents need to be aware of who is near the bus stop.
"I work for a school bus company - I see parents waving from the door," Vega says "Why wave from the door? Stand with your kid, I don't care if it's rain or snow, stand with your kid."
Parents in the area tell News 12 they are concerned about their children walking to the bus stop and will be keeping a closer eye.
