A junior at St. Anthony's High School with a personal connection to Ukraine started a supply drive for the invaded country.
Julia Freedman has family suffering from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
She was on a call with her family and saw and heard the destruction caused by the war when she decided to help.
"Julia was there, and she could see how emotional everything was and how terrible everything was," says Maurice Freedman, Julia's father. "And the fact that we felt like we couldn't do anything, we couldn't help."
Maurice Freedman says his daughter then came to him with the idea of starting the drive.
It started as just a social media campaign, but Julia Freedman says students at St. Anthony's High School have been gathering items for the thousands of Ukrainians displaced by the war.
"I feel like we are doing so much more than just posting on social media and really helping further the cause as best as we can," Julia says.
Julia says anyone who wants to help can also find other donation drives at Ukrainian churches.
