The Suffolk SPCA is asking for the public's help after it rescued two badly malnourished horses from a Center Moriches farm two weeks ago.

SPCA officials are seeking any donations, including money, food and supplies, for 7-year-old Max and 13-year-old Fudge. Officials say the horses may not have been fed in at least two months.

Officer Regina Benfante says the horses' owner voluntarily signed the animals over to the SPCA. The owner has not been charged with any crime and is cooperating with investigators.

Max and Fudge are currently being nursed back to health at Hidden Pond Stables in Manorville. The SCPA is hoping that someone will be able to adopt them once they are in good health, which may take up to six months.

Anyone who is able to help in any way is asked to call the SPCA at 631-382-7722
