SPCA officers were back at a Bellmore home Thursday to decide if the homeowner should face animal neglect charges.
They had found more than 400 animals at Gary Gruber's home Wednesday night. The animals include alligators, iguanas, turtles, chinchillas and birds.
Cleanup crews hired by the homeowner were at the site as he had promised. SPCA inspectors say that since the cleaning will take longer than expected, Gruber now has until Tuesday to ensure the house is in order.
The Department of Environmental Conservation is also expected check to see if there are any more prohibited animals inside.
