Southampton School District's Farina under investigation
Southampton School District Superintendent Scott Farina is under investigation, according to a message posted on the district's website.
The district has not disclosed the nature of the investigation, citing privacy laws. An attorney for Farina told News 12 the superintendent denies a published claim that he sent an X-rated selfie to a former girlfriend.
In the message posted on Thursday from Southampton Board of Education President Heather McCallion, she said the board "adopted a resolution to hire outside counsel to examine the allegations that were brought to our attention." That resolution was adopted on Feb. 11.
McCallion wrote that the board expects the "process will be completed in the next few weeks."
Farina's lawyer, Steve Politi, says he will sit down with investigators next week and hopes to clear his client's name.
Farina has been superintendent since 2013.
