You don't have to go far this Memorial Day weekend to find one of the best beaches in the United States.

Cooper's Beach in Southampton took the No. 3 spot on an annual list of the best beaches, as compiled by a coastal scientist.

Only a Florida beach and one on North Carolina's Outer Banks got higher marks. Cooper's Beach even beat out two beaches in Hawaii.

The list maker, who is also a Florida college professor, has been ranking the nation's beaches for 30 years.
