Some South Shore communities faced flooding concerns due to major downpours that hit the area.
A storm drain was submerged under water on Terry Street in Sayville. Sayville officials say crews will continue to deal with trouble spots during the storm.
Some residents in Lindenhurst are using sandbags to protect their garages and moving their cars to higher ground.
Lindenhurst resident Chelsea Lovergine says she'll keep a close eye on Ida throughout the night.
“We're just going to keep watching the apps on our phones to see how to prepare,” she says. “We'll make sure the back is pretty well barricaded. If we have to move our cars to the parking lot, we will do that. Hopefully it won't be anything too bad.”
