Postal police removed 70-80 garbage bags full of undelivered mail Tuesday from a property on West Adler Road in Bellmore, sources tell News 12 Long Island.
The USPS Office of the Inspector General would not say if the home belongs to a postal employee. Officials would not confirm what was in the bags.
They said there has been no arrest made as of yet.
Inspectors say they are in the early stages of the investigation and that charges will depend on what is revealed.
Postal officials have confirmed that residents in Bethpage and Levittown reported missing mail. They are urging anyone who believes they may be a victim of mail theft to call 888-USPSOIG.
