A source tells News 12 that outgoing Long Island Rep. Anthony D'Esposito is lobbying to become President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Drug Enforcement Agency.
News 12 is told the Nassau County detectives' union is backing him.
The Republican's move comes after losing his reelection bid against Laura Gillen.
Trump's initial pick for the role pulled out on Tuesday due to backlash from conservatives over his policies during the pandemic.
