Although residents in the Uniondale Water District are relieved to have the use of their water again Tuesday, many are angry that they were never informed about a potential problem. Town of Hempstead officials say that test results for water contamination came back negative and the water was never dangerous at all. But some are wondering what kind of shape they'd be in if the water had been tainted because plenty of residents in the area drank it. Town of Hempstead officials say they did what Nassau guidelines require. They also say the concerns were conveyed to officials at Hofstra University, which is also part of the water district. The problem is word didn't make it to the nearly 2,000 students staying on campus until Tuesday morning. Residents have been advised to let the water run for at least 10 minutes to get any sand or sediment out of the line.
