The city is reportedly moving to cut nurses from some Bronx and city elementary and middle schools.
According to a Daily News report, the education and health departments are making cuts at schools with more than one nurse, where one of them can be reassigned. The cuts are a result of a bargain the city made with the two unions that represent city school nurses.
Officials say they are only cutting positions at schools with fewer than 1,000 students and a low number of special-needs kids. The Daily News reports there are 45 city schools, including three in the Bronx, that are targeted for the nursing cuts.
