Some Long Islanders found extra motivation Friday to work off those extra calories gained during their Thanksgiving feast.
Robert Battafarano, of Massapequa Park, was feeling the burn at Sportset Health and Fitness in Rockville Centre.
"Just did a little bit extra today, so I ran a little at my end of the workout," he told News 12 Long Island.
Fitness director Greg Byers says the key is to start slow, shake off that belly bloat and then really get moving.
"You gotta get on the treadmill for five, 15 minutes or so, then it's time to get on the weights and just start working," says Byers.
Others chose to walk outside during a quite mild afternoon. Chris Lachere, of Valley Stream, had a stroll at Hempstead Lake State Park.
"It's very nice, and now we have to walk to Jersey to get the rest of them off," says Lachere.
