Snow is falling on Long Island, and it will start to pick up even more as the evening progresses.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of Long Island, in effect through 3 a.m. Monday.
Parts of the Island could see 1-3 inches of accumulation before the snow turns to a wintry mix later tonight, and then fully switches to rain by midnight.
The rain will likely wash away the snow before Monday morning, but drivers could be in for a messy commute and slippery roads tomorrow.
The rain will continue into Monday, eventually moving out of the area in the afternoon.
