Two people were killed and several others were injured in a crash on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the collision that happened around 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

State police tell News 12 the incident happened on the Southern State eastbound just west of Exit 17 in Malverne.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the other occupants were taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to police.

The extent of the injuries to those injured is not known at this time.

The parkway is currently closed eastbound at Exit 15 as the accident investigation continues.
