November SNAP benefits won’t be paid while the government shutdown continues.

Millions of Americans rely on SNAP to purchase groceries.

Pronto of Long Island has been seeing an increasing need for food as a result of the rising cost of groceries.

That need is expected to increase even further said Keith Scott, Pronto’s president and CEO, as a result of the government shutdown leading to the stoppage of November SNAP payments.

“We know there’s a storm coming our way. We’re trying to prepare and keep the community safe.” Scott said, “We’re trying to reach out to our partners, trying to raise more funds."

There’s been no indication the government shutdown will be ending soon.
