A local food effort helped to feed the heroes who are caring for our country's war heroes.
Panico's Community Market in Smithtown teamed up with Plumbers Local Union 200 and local officials to give out 700 individually packed meals for health care workers at the Northport VA.
"It's a great effort to help out the employees that are on the front line here, taking care of our veterans," says Smithtown Town Supervisor Ed Werheim. "The least we can do is come down here and help them. Bring our lunches inside, get them a good lunch and feed them well.
Donato Panico is the cofounder of Heros For Our Heroes, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to feeding Americans.
