The Smithtown Library Board says "misinformation" has been spreading about a popular memoir.
According to a statement, the Smithtown Library says a popular memoir called "Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe" is one of its most popular adult titles.
However, the statement says the book "is not, and has never been, part of its Children's collection. It has never been on display in its Children's section."
The Smithtown Library Board recently voted to ban LGBTQ Pride displays in the children's section of libraries but reversed course following public backlash.
The memoir is still available upon request.
