Some small business owners in Nassau will have to pay more as part of County Executive Ed Mangano's proposed budget.
The newly released 2017 budget for Nassau County would increase license fees for small businesses.
Essentially, small businesses already paying would be paying more and some businesses who never paid will have to start. Dog groomers like the Barrie Inn would now pay $600 for a county business license.
"We have a hard enough time trying to survive in the environment that we're in today and this is just putting an additional burden on the small business owners," says manager Evelyn Franklin.
A spokesman for Mangano gave News 12 a statement saying, "Rather than burden all homeowners, businesses will incur the costs related to consumer protection in their industry."
The new budget would go into effect in January 2017.
