THIS EVENING: SHOWERS, BRIEF GUSTY THUNDERSTORM
Keep a rain jacket and umbrella with you! While most of the evening will be mostly cloudy with spotty, light rain showers, a couple of downpours and a quick thunderstorm cannot be ruled out from around 8 p.m. through just after midnight. This would briefly slow down travel and cause quick and large puddles to form. Use caution if you encounter any brief, heavier scattered rain tonight. Areas of patchy fog will be around overnight and into Thursday, too.
Today was warm for March - yet again. High temperatures reached the upper 50s to the mid-60s across the North Shore, while communities closer to the South Shore remain a bit cooler - in the 50s thanks to the influence of the colder Atlantic Ocean water. Temperatures will stay fairly mild for this time of year tonight, dropping only into the 40s by Thursday morning.
THURSDAY: BECOMING COLDER WITH MIXED SHOWERS
Thursday starts off with periods of rain showers during the morning. Temperatures in the low to mid-50s early in the day, but colder air will push in through the afternoon. As readings fall into the upper 30s by around 5 p.m., some of those rain showers may mix with wet snow showers before tapering off. Little to no accumulation is expected, but roads will continue to be wet until later in the evening.
Temperatures are expected to drop to around or slightly below freezing Thursday night into Friday morning. This would allow for refreezing of standing water. Please watch out for icy spots on Thursday night and Friday morning because of this.
By Friday, the system pulls away, bringing partly sunny skies, breezy conditions, and a colder feel with afternoon highs mainly in the 40s.
