Friends and family crowded a Rockville Centre funeral home Sunday to mourn the passing of Leah Walsh, who police say was killed by her husband.
Walsh, 29, was found Wednesday after police say William Walsh reported her missing on Monday and then made a desperate plea for the public?s help in finding her. William Walsh has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in connection with her death.
Friends of Leah who gathered at Gutterman's Funeral Home say they were stunned to hear of her death, hoping the news media had it wrong.
?I just kept looking on the computer for updates and e-mails and news postings on the Web and I was shocked,? says Charles Montalbano.
Melba Bralower, a neighbor from Walsh?s childhood, said she had grown up to be a "great teacher."
Leah Walsh was later buried at Beth Moses Cemetery in Pinelawn.
